Bluenose: Tell us about yourself.

Zach: I grew in Granite Falls & have spent my whole life in the area. I graduated high school from YME. I went to college to become an educator and hold a license in both history education and special education. I’ve been teaching for 8+ years. I currently teach in Montevideo. When I’m not at school or helping Bluenose, I love flexing my creative side by doing dynamic sports photography, videography, and graphic design! I also love music. I enjoy hitting up different music & record stores. Punk rock/pop punk is my favorite genre. I’m also a sucker for a good movie or video game soundtrack!

Bluenose: Why did you want to join the Board of Directors?

Zach: Some friends approached me about running for the Board and using my digital creativity to help Bluenose grow. I want to see businesses succeed and have our community flourish. It felt like a way for me to give back to that.

Bluenose: What is your role on the Board?

Zach: I am the Director of Marketing. I manage the website, social media and monthly newsletter. With help from the Board & other members, I try to build creative ways to market Bluenose, whether that’s graphics or videos.

Bluenose: What makes Bluenose special to you?

Zach: I first started going to Bluenose for trivia nights and found myself going for other events, like the live music or Squidfest. I love that it provides a space for all things creative.

Bluenose: What do you see as the future of Bluenose?

Zach: I am very optimistic for the future right now. Our Board is made up of a driven bunch who is thinking outside the box to bring people into Bluenose. We want to keep doing what makes us Bluenose, but also try new, creative things that broadens our appeal to a wider audience. We want to partner more with other local businesses & groups to support one another and keep our community growing!

Bluenose: Anything else?

Zach: We couldn’t do any of this without our employees, volunteers and patrons/members. They’re the reason we continue to do what we do. Thank you so much! It’s so much fun seeing the support and participation in everything we plan. It makes all the hard work worth it.
