One of the greatest strengths of a cooperative is that it belongs to all of us. But ownership also comes with shared responsibility.
Our new deck project is an exciting investment in Bluenose’s future, and construction is set to begin August 17. Before that can happen, we need to clear everything off and out from under the existing deck.
The Board of Directors is already planning a couple of cleanup days, but we can’t—and shouldn’t—do this alone.
Board members volunteer countless hours outside of our full-time jobs to oversee the business, write grants, manage finances, plan projects, attend meetings, and make the decisions necessary to keep Bluenose thriving. We gladly do that because we believe in this place.
Now we’re asking our fellow members to invest a little of their time as well.
If everyone who enjoys Bluenose gave just an hour or two, this work would be finished quickly. Instead of a handful of volunteers carrying the load, we’d be doing what cooperatives are meant to do: working together.
Whether you’ve been a member since day one or joined recently, this is your place too. Every chair moved, every box carried, and every hour volunteered helps create a better space for all of us to gather, enjoy live music, connect with friends, and build community.
We hope you’ll roll up your sleeves and join us. The deck is being built for all of us. Let’s prepare for it together.
